Delta Camp

This is an intimate, yet informal safari camp nestled on a small island close to the south-western edge of Chief's Island, in the heart of the pristine and unique Okavango Delta. Guests are accommodated in spacious 'lethaka' (reed) chalets, with en-suite facilities. Deigned to take advantage of the many indigenous trees of their island forest, the chalets fit unobtrusively, blending into the surrounding bush whilst enjoying views over the flood-plains.

Hammocks complete the picture of simple luxury in the wilderness, and your chalet directly overlooks the waters of the Boro River, one of the primary channels of the Delta.

Guests get to know the area both by foot and mokoro - the traditional dug-out canoe. These excursions are conducted in the renowned and beautiful Moremi Game Reserve, with your own professional guide, a local man, and completely at one with his environment.

You can enjoy meals in the elegant Dining Room overlooking the sweep of the Delta, or take a beautifully prepared picnic onto one of the many nearby islands for a secluded and intimate experience. Either way, the excellent cuisine ensures that guests are well prepared for their walks. Tea and coffee are available at all times, and the open bar is on hand to refresh!

This unusual Camp engenders, in its staff and guests alike, an acute awareness of the ecological sensitivity of this incredible area. Bio-degradable products are used, and careful separation and treatment of refuse ensures that nothing that is not fully bio-degradable stays on the island.

The Okavango Delta is a shifting web of crystal-clear channels, lagoons, sweeping floodplains and palm-studded islands. Seasonally home to over 450 species of bird and numerous plant species, not to mention crocodile, hippo, elephant, buffalo - in fact the full spectrum of Botswana wildlife -  and several species of antelope that are amongst the world's rarest - the Okavango has fully earned its reputation as one of the world's premier wilderness areas.

The accent at the Lodge is on peace and tranquillity (stalking game on foot provides all the excitement one could wish for) and guests are actively encouraged to visit a local village, home to the Lodge guides, and to interact, should they wish to, with the people there.
